Aleksandar Hemon

I adore, ADORE, Aleksandar Hemon

First off there's the fact that he learned English after having moved to the states in the 90s and is now writing some of the most amazing pieces of the growing American immigrant canon. Actually, there are few writers (American or otherwise) who can produce the kind of stuff he does. If you don't believe me, demi-god James Wood holds him in high esteem as well.

In any case, you can get a taste his stuff in the New Yorker, the latest piece being The Noble Truths of Suffering. He is also the subject of a recent episode of the Guardian fiction podcast which you can find here.

That was great, especially since I am working on a paper on nostalgia and had been thinking about including Tito.

Thanks for stopping by.
