Running

"I'm in my whatever bumpin NWA, a hundred miles..."

I've been thinking about celebrity & nihilism (a thought prompted by my recent discovery that pulitzer-winning Junot Diaz is working on an apocalyptic novel) and maybe this is relevant.

you should also read infinite jest. But I think you probably already have.

it's funny that you mention the book cause i was actually thinking of rereading it - i read it a long while ago, when i was really naive about books (esp pomo fiction) and i think i may get more out of it this time around.

thanks for stopping by...

A friend of mine, he is dead now, painted covers of magazines like Time. His wife would also paint and draw but she did the little pictures that you sometimes see in the older magazines. At the end of stories. Little random things.

I was just thinking about these while rereading your Yugoslavia 1991 which appeared in the New Yorker. New Yorker was one of the magazines that she did these little drawing, painting things for.

You should also read Neal Stephenson's snowstorm. Great book about all sorts of things including apocalypse, corporations, even nihilism. It is sort of like the jest book although there are no links in there to shakespeare.
